Vanguard announced today that Ms. Julie Andrews has been appointed as the Head of Institutional in Australia.

Ms. Andrews, former director of index provider FTSE's Australian operation, will be responsible for Vanguard's institutional business and sales strategy and will join Vanguard's Australian executive team. She will lead a team of six senior institutional relationship managers and sales professionals.

The managing director of Vanguard Australia, Mr. John James, said "We are delighted to welcome Ms. Andrews to head up our Institutional business and join the leadership team at Vanguard.

"Vanguard is committed to growing our institutional business in Australia at a time when we see an increasing alignment with the industry changes coming into effect from the Stronger Super regulation both in terms of client-first focus and transparency, and Vanguard's core value proposition.

"Our institutional business partnerships form the bedrock of our operations here in Australia and a key focus for Ms. Andrews will be to work with existing clients along with a mandate to grow the team and our presence in this sector in Australia."

Vanguard's Australian institutional team serves clients across large financial institutions including superannuation funds, investment managers, asset consultants and corporate master trusts as well as other non-super entities such as insurers, endowments and charities.

Originally from New York, Ms. Andrews has worked in the financial services sector for over 15 years with extensive experience establishing and developing new regional operations in the US, Europe and Asia in leadership roles in funds management, superannuation and investment banking consultancy and sales.

Speaking about her new position at Vanguard, Ms. Andrews said "I'm enthusiastic about the opportunity to build upon Vanguard's established institutional business and partnerships in the marketplace and look forward to continue working closely with a sophisticated institutional client base and internal team to create new opportunities."

Ms. Andrews established FTSE's business in Australia in 2007 and was responsible for FTSE's ongoing development and expansion in the Australian and NZ financial marketplace including the establishment of FTSE's partnership with ASFA, delivering the FTSE ASFA Australia Index Series - the first industry-standard after tax benchmarks for the Australian market.

Prior to joining FTSE Group, Ms Andrews established the Asia Pacific office as Asia Pacific Director for StarMine Corporation, a US Headquartered equity research analytics firm and worked as a Senior Manager at Nextera. She began her career in institutional sales, research and broker relations for Thomson Financial Services.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), a Bachelor of Business (Honours), is a Senior Associate of FINSIA and has recently become a founding member of Financial Executive Women (FEW).
