Vanguard announces new Head of Investment Strategy and Research for Asia Pacific

Vanguard announced today that Mr. Jeffrey Johnson, CFA, has been appointed to lead the Investment Strategy and Research team for Vanguard Asia Pacific.

Mr. Johnson will oversee a team of four senior investment analysts and economists with primary responsibility for promoting and enhancing Vanguard's reputation for thought leadership in investment-related issues and as a provider of sound, thorough investment research and strategy.

Mr. Johnson joined the Vanguard Group in 2000 working as a senior investment analyst in Vanguard's Portfolio Review Department where he was responsible for fund and manager oversight, due diligence on prospective managers, product management and development, institutional client service, and co-management of a team of investment analysts.

Before joining PRD, Mr. Johnson worked with individual clients in Vanguard's high-net-worth department. Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in finance and economics from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and an M.B.A. degree from Villanova University. He is a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia.

Investment professionals in Vanguard's Investment Strategy Group develop and maintain Vanguard's investment methodology and portfolio solutions for all Vanguard clients. The group provides research and commentary on such topics as portfolio construction, asset allocation and location, tax issues, and market and economic trends.

Vanguard's Chief Economist Joseph Davis, who leads the Global Investment Strategy Group, said:

Mr. Johnson will relocate to Australia early in 2014.
