Vanguard today announced the appointment of Kim Petersen to its Australian Executive Team as Chief Information Officer Asia Pacific, a critical role supporting continued growth in the region.
Reporting directly to Managing Director, Frank Kolimago, Ms. Petersen brings to Vanguard some 20 years of Information Technology experience, leading teams in charge of end user computing, service management, data centre and cloud, networks, and cyber security operations.
“Kim’s technical and leadership expertise will be a valuable addition to Vanguard Australia as we continue to invest in the technology and infrastructure required to give our investors the best chance of investment success, while also focusing on delivering a superior client experience,” said Mr. Kolimago.
Ms. Petersen, who commenced in the role earlier this month, leads a Melbourne-based team of 170 professionals supporting Vanguard’s Asia Pacific businesses. She takes on the role previously held by Charles Thompson, who has moved into a new role leading International Systems, located at Vanguard’s U.S. headquarters.
“We are very grateful for Charles’ service to Vanguard’s technology division in Australia, where he built and led the team through a period of significant growth and investment in the firms IT infrastructure and security services. We will also continue to benefit from Charles’ expertise as his role leading International Systems encompasses Australia and works closely with Kim and the local team.
“Kim’s role leading the IT division will support opportunities for Vanguard in this region and beyond, with the Australia-based team functioning as one of three critical IT hubs for Vanguard globally,” said Mr. Kolimago.
Ms. Petersen has a Bachelor of Information Technology from Swinburne University and a Masters of Business Administration and Management from RMIT.
